A conference on Social Mobility and Widening Access to Higher Education: Policy, Practice and Research, took place at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow on Friday 15th May, 2015.
Organised in partnership with the University of Strathclyde, Forum for Access and Continuing Education (FACE), the FOCUS West Programme and the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) discussed the future of widening access in Scotland.
The one day event featured keynotes from Angela Constance, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Jim Murphy, MP and Dr Edward Sosu, one of the authors of the report ‘Closing the attainment gap in Scottish education’. It also featured a mix of panel sessions, presentations and workshops.
