Research from Carnegie Mellon (US) found that older adults who volunteer for at least 200 hours a year can decrease their risk of high blood pressure by 40 percent, a new study finds.

The specific type of volunteer activity doesn’t matter, researchers say. It’s the amount of time spent volunteering that leads to increased protection from hypertension.
